February! Even though it's bitter cold, it's still one of my favorite months because of my birthday of course! Ours was full of family and friends and here are the highlights.
David and I saw Trevor Noah at the Murat and had dinner at the Rathskellar. It was another fun night in Indy.
Our company celebrated it's 100th birthday on February 6th. Our Tech Center, which is usually lit up like a Christmas tree at the end of the year, was lit up for C100. Awesome!
We had cupcakes galore for the celebration!
That night I thought we were meeting Mike and Mary for dinner to celebrate my birthday a little early. What a SHOCK to walk in and see 25 friends gathered for a surprise party. I have NEVER been so surprised!
Here is part of the group. I'm a lucky girl!
David and I headed BACK to the Murat to see "High Fidelity" on the big screen and then John Cusack came out for a Q&A! He was terrific, terribly awkward and everything I imagined. We had awesome seats and had a great dinner at Salt before the show.
48!
I took my birthday off and had a terrific day with the dogs and birthday gifts! Friends brought me homemade chocolate covered strawberries (my favorite!)
And I got this amazing basket from my parents. We enjoyed its contents for days. Brennan especially who loves fruit, cheese, crackers, and all the goodies.
And gorgeous flowers from Renee :)
And lots of other gifts! Not knowing Mary was planning a surprise party, I invited our wine club out to Indiana Smokehouse on my birthday because they just opened after a remodel and it's the Year of the Pig, which is MY year! We had a great time catching up and opening our Chinese New Year fortunes.
We decided to remodel Brennan's room. He had outgrown some of his furniture and we needed a fresh coat of paint. We found the perfect desk, bookcase, bed, dresser, and nightstand combo at IKEA. So we spent half a Saturday at IKEA figuring it all out. It was actually fun!
And then poor David and Brennan spent the next two weekends getting his room assembled. I sold all of the old furniture and have to plug sales sites on Facebook. I have had so much luck selling stuff there with no issues.
Look at Bailey, sound asleep.
Remy approves Brennan's new bed. We cleaned out his room and he's got everything set up so nicely now!
Another event - I had so much fun in February. We saw Cher in concert at Bankers Life Fieldhouse! Lupita, Maribel, Susan, Cindy and I had so much fun! Cher was fantastic. She told several stories and sang all of her hits, quite a few ABBA hits too, and did not disappoint. She wore all of her iconic costumes for each song. Such a great night! We picked up Thomas on the way home so he could spend a day with us.
We attended Robot Reveal night at Brennan's robotics team's workshop. They had 60 people there to see the robot do its thing before the next night at midnight when the robot had to be bagged for competition season. Brennan is on the programming team and it's been so good for him.
A few photos of the babies. They like to sit with me when I work at the computer. They basically sleep. Remy doesn't slow down much, but he does like a big nap.
Sweet Bailey.
You can tell it's nighttime because Remy has finally slowed down and wants Dad to hold him. He's a snuggler.
At my surprise party my friends surprised me with a Little Free Library! I have seen these for years and thought they were so great. Mary knows me well. David built the post and platform and painted it. And Mike and Mary came to install it with David. I absolutely love it. I've already had people using it, which I love!
Finally, we had the opportunity to attend an event as a family with our friends Laura and Gene that I knew David and Brennan would be as excited about as I was. Tibetan Monks from a monastery in Northern India were in the U.S. raising money for their school. They had a program where we go to cook traditional dishes with the monks, dine together and learn more about their monastery and culture. It was such a fantastic night! Brennan spent his resource period studying up on Tibet so he'd be ready!
February is a great month!
