We have spent so much of our school year on homework and projects - we took a break on Sunday and went to Indianapolis. 4th grade Academic Challenge is proving to be quite a challenge for all of us - but it's going better. Just a ton of work that OUR 4th grader doesn't get done in class. We're enjoying all the additional projects too. Just ask David about the latest science experiment!
We headed to the Children's Museum and the boys had a ton of fun. There is a new permanent exhibit on Egypt that we explored first. An Egyptian woman presented on music. The children were able to play all different types of instruments. Of course, Brennan was right in the middle of it.
Beautiful drum
Then we headed to their favorite area in the museum - 4th floor Science Works. They could stay in this large area for hours. This sign sums it up for me - science is all around me when we travel, at home... The boys love science.
Brennan making a "cell" and learning about all the parts of an animal cell.
Brennan's favorite (and mine) the Rube Goldberg exhibit.
Saturday afternoon I had a girls' thing and David took the boys to the "Meet the Marines" event at the fairgrounds. There were a number of vehicles that the kids could get in and look around. This group is stationed at Camp Atterbury nearby and were on their way to the Mediterranean right after this event.

These are 2 boys who show very little interest in guns. They're pretty much pacifists who prefer reading to anything else in the world - but they had a lot of fun with Daddy and the Marines this weekend!
